ABOUT Amanda Gandolf, ABCDT

I combined my passion for dogs with my background in communications to become a Certified Dog Trainer through the Animal Behavior College in 2009. I am now a mentor trainer for current ABC students and a professional member of both the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and the Pet Professional Guild (PPG). I am also a proud member of FACT (Force Free Alliance of Charlotte Trainers) which is committed to educating dog owners, veterinarians, pet stores and the general public about positive based training methods.

I have had the privilege of training hundreds of dogs in obedience using positive based, scientifically proven methods. This was accomplished through my work at a local doggie daycare as a day trainer and group class instructor and also as the head trainer at a boarding/daycare/training facility and through My Dog and Me NC.
I worked as a lead trainer for a non-profit organization which breeds and trains Labrador Retrievers to become skilled companions for children with special needs. I have performed Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) exercises on newborn puppies (which improves physical and mental strength) and performed temperament tests. I've also imprinted puppies with live low blood sugar samples and trained them on live scent so they could go on to become Diabetic Alert Dogs (DAD).

Through it all, I remain most passionate about helping families and the dogs they live with build happy, working relationships that can bring stability and serenity to both species! I thrive on a challenge and so enjoy designing and implementing behavior modification programs based on the most current scientific research for behavioral issues including dog to dog reactivity, dog to people reactivity, separation anxiety and destructive behavior among others.

I am committed to continuing my education and improving my knowledge and skills by regularly attending seminars, conferences and webinars based on positive reinforcement and motivational training methods by some of the top trainers in the world.
I enjoy volunteering at the Humane Society of York County (HSYC) through their Favorite Furry Friends program where I team up with one dog at a time to promote and train desirable behaviors whilst spending time with them and taking them to adoption events.
I currently share my home with: My awesome husband and our two children. Our furry members are Jeeves, Burrito, Paco and Cookie the cat. Our first family dogs Chewy and Hank taught me so much and will never be forgotten!
